What They Say:
No shelter, no food, no water… when four girls get shipwrecked on a deserted island, they’re in big trouble! …Or so you’d think, but they’re actually doing great! They don’t have anything, so they’ll make what they need to! They’ll eat what they need to! It’s a deserted island story of intelligence and courage!

The season draws to a close with this installment and with the manga ongoing you knew there wasn’t going to be much in the way of a proper finale here, such as a rescue or something. The series has been an interesting one and I liked how things turned serious in the last episode with Homare having to stand strong and save Shion. Getting to her was just half the problem, though, and now Homare has to figure out how to keep Shion focused on what they need to do and to actively figure out how to get back to the main big island.

It’s fun to watch as they explore a bit of the island where Shion has been and trying to figure out what’s helpful and what isn’t. Shion’s feeling pretty useless at this point but Homare is able to prod her into focusing on the job of figuring out how to replenish their water so they can find their way back. It’s a good sequence overall and shows some solid improvising by Homare so they can make it successfully. The riptide that brought Shion here has really made it a challenge for the two as making the way back in the heat and sunlight of the day is definitely impacting them directly. Homare really takes it to a whole other level here when it comes to keeping them hydrated and while it’s all done off-camera, well, it changes your view of everyone involved significantly.

In Summary:
With the other two girls not getting as much time here until the end, it does make the last couple of minutes enjoyable for the reunion and feast that they have to celebrate it. Not that Shion is letting Homare fill them in on too many of the details after the whole mouth to ass sequence. The season ends with enough of an open-ended aspect that it can do more easily but it can also segue viewers into readers, which is the intent, so that the manga can prosper more. It’ll be interesting to see if it has an impact in that area and I’ll admit that I’d love to have another season of this educational-survival series as it hit a lot of good marks once it got past the initial setup.
