The anime adaptation of the French comic for Radiant wrapped up its two-cour season back in February with its twenty-episode run. The official site revealed at the time a second season will kick off in the fall of 2019 that will have the same episode count and Crunchyroll has confirmed their pickup of it. Now, the folks at NHK have revealed that Halo at Yojohan is handling the opening theme song “Naraku” and Emi Nakamura is handling the ending theme song “Chitto mo Shiranakatta.”
Additionally, three more characters were added with cast reveals that includes:
- Yukana as Queen Boudica
- Hiroshi Shirokuma as Brangoire
- Yutaka Aoyama as Lord Gyuris
The series is broadcast in Japan on NHK with Crunchyroll handling overseas streaming. Seiji Kishi is serving as the general director and Motoo Fukuoka as the series director working from the composition by Makoto Uezu. Lerche will be handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Yumiri Hanamori as Seth, Aoi Yūki as Mélie, Shintarou Oohata as Doc, Romi Park as Alma, Makoto Koichi as Mister Bobley, Koji Yusa as Dragunov, Takehito Koyasu as Grim, Kappei Yamaguchi as Master Lord Majesty, Hiroyuki Yoshino as Yaga, Nao Tōyama as Miss Melba, Kenta Miyake as Tork, Takuma Terashima as Von Tepes, Saori Hayami as Ulmina Bagliore, Ayane Sakura Lieselotte, Kenichi Ogata as Santori, Ryohei Kimura as Piodan, Tetsu Inada as Boss, Haruki Ishiya as Mordred, Kentarō Kumagai as Sagramore, and Sho Hayami as the narrator.
The work comes from Tony Valente with eleven volumes out since it debuted in 2013 in France and seven volumes released in Japan so far with its localization.
The English dub for the series has Caitlin Glass as the ADR director with Aaron Dismuke handling the scripts. The English cast includes Christopher Llewyn Ramirez as Seth, Barry Yandell as Narrator, Marcus D. Stimac as Boss, and Monica Rial as Alma.
The opening features 04 Limited Sazabys with the song “Utopia” while the ending has Polkadot Stingray performing “Radiant.”
Plot Concept: Seth is an aspiring sorcerer from the Pompo Hills area. Like all wizards, he is an “infected,” one of the few living beings who survived the contact of the Nemesis—creatures fallen from the sky that contaminate and decimate all those they touch. Being immune to them, Seth wants to become a Hunter and fight the Nemesis. But more than that, Seth wants to engage in a quest that goes beyond the simple hunt for monsters. He wants to find the Radiant, their presumed cradle. Aided by a faction of fellow sorcerers, he travels the world in search of the Radiant, under the harsh scrutiny of the Inquisition.
