Sanrio revealed in August that a new project in the works that’s set to arrive in 2020 with an anime TV series revolving around the Mewkledreamy character. There aren’t a lot of details yet but Chiaki Kon is set to direct it with JC Staff handling the anime adaptation. With Natsumi Murakami set to play Yume in the series, the first trailer and key visual have dropped for the property to give us a feel of the approach for it. It clocks in at nearly two minutes and handles the balance well of the origins and where they want to go with it.

A manga will also be coming that will debut in two magazines in January from Kodansha.

Plot Concept: The story begins when a middle school girl named Yume sees something fall from the sky, and meets a pale violet-colored kitten named Mew. It turns out that Mew has the power of “Yume Synchro” (Dream Synchro), the power to enter dreams. In the dream world, the girl and Mew collect Dream Stones.
