Marvel Studios confirmed a fall 2021 debut for a Hawkeye event series during the D23 Expo recently and now some new information has surfaced regarding it. We know that it’ll be bringing back Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton to train Kate Bishop to take over the role and that it’s also set to explore of what Renner’s Avengers: Endgame character was like with his backstory for becoming Ronin.

The latest update to arrive for the project is one that would have long-term implication as MArvel/Disney is looking at making a long-term investment in bringing Hailee Steinfeld on board. With the character having an arc that could launch the Young Avengers as well as a female-led trilogy of films for Kate Bishop herself as the new Hawkeye, there’s a lot of things to deal with. Steinfeld has been gaining a lot of fans in film since her work on True Grit and delighted in last year’s Bumblebee film while also delivering a lot of fun as Gwen Stacey in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. If it goes through we’ll hear it through the official Marvel side when they’re ready to roll out their plans.

We recently learned that Jonathan Igla has joined the project as a writer and an executive producer on the project. Igla’s not a well-known name in the genre circles but he worked on Mad Men back in the day as a writer and story editor and was involved in the Fox series Pitch. His most recent work as a writer is on the Facebook Watch series Sorry for Your Loss.

No casting is firm beyond Renner being involved in the project and that it’ll be his character bringing the next generation up with the Kate Bishop character.
