Announced back in August 2018 with a tentative title of The Denizens of Kabuki-chō, Production I.G. previously revealed that it will go by the name of Kabukicho Sherlock. The series is part of the fall 2019 season and we learned recently it has a premiere date of October 11th, 2019, though at 13:55 am it’s basically an October 12th debut. The official site has now updated to reveal that this is being done as a two-cour show and there will be no skip season between them.
Additionally, Kadokawa has done well with four full promos so far and they’re now dipping into TV spot territory to draw in more casual viewers. Check out the latest spot below!
The show has Ai Yoshimura directing it with Taku Kishimoto handling the scripting side. Toshiyuki Yahai is on board with the character designs and Production I.G. on the anime production.
The previously announced Japanese cast includes Katsuyuki Konishi as Sherlock, Yūichi Nakamura as John H. Watson, Seiichirō Yamashita as James Moriarty, Sōma Saitō as Fuyuto Kyogoku, Nao Tōyama as Mary Morstan, Mariko Higashiuchi as Lucy Morstan, Yutaka Aoyama as Michel Belmont, Tatsumaru Tachibana as Toratarō Kobayashi, and Junichi Suwabe as Mrs. Hudson.
