Hayley Atwell Boards ‘Mission: Impossible 7’

2 min read
One of our favorites is now stepping into a new franchise.

The news at the beginning of this year that writer/director Christopher McQuarrie has signed up for two more Mission: Impossible films in the franchise was welcomed by most people. They’ll be producing these back to back with it planned for a summer 2021 and summer 2022 release. Now, Paramount has firmed up the dates with a July 23rd, 2021 release and an August 5th, 2022 release.

Now, some casting information is starting to surface as the projects are put together, which are basically expected to be quite connected with how they’re being filmed. The newest addition to the property is Hayley Atwell. Naturally, no details about her role were revealed but for fans of the actress and her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’ll be welcome to see her in a big-budget production again.

McQuarrie’s work on the last two films in the franchise, Rogue Nation and Fallout, earned $1.4 billion worldwide together. Fallout is the top film worldwide with a $791 million take overall as it built upon what came before. You can see the full box office chart breakdown here for the franchise.

Cruise and McQuarrie definitely have a very strong working dynamic together as McQuarrie wrote other projects for him with The Mummy and Valkyrie as well as adapting Edge of Tomorrow. He also both wrote and directed the two Jack Reacher films that Cruise starred in.
