The anime adaptation of the Kenja no Mago light novel series from Tsuyoshi Yoshioka and Seiji Kikuchi was streamed as Wise Man’s Grandchild in its localized form. On the Japanese side, they’re doing the usual seiyuu program and Funimation surprised us by bringing it out with subtitles. After bringing out a few of them and taking a few months off, the remaining ones are now rolling in. The latest is the eighth one that has come out which plays a bit with Maya Hinanogi along with the Japanese voices of Shin (Yusuke Kobayashi) and Sizilien (Rina Honizumi). They clock in around five to six minutes and you get some vtuber stuff mixed in as well, so your enjoyment level may vary. The series sees its simulcast handled by Funimation with a simuldub at the same time. Availability for them is set for viewers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia.

The series has Masafumi Tamura directing based on the series composition by Tatsuya Takahashi. Yuki Sawairi is handling the character designs with Silver Link working on the animation production.

The previously announced cast includes Yusuke Kobayashi as Shin Wolford, Shohei Komatsu as August von Earlshide, Rina Hon’izumi as Sicily von Claude, Yūki Wakai as Maria von Messina, Yūsaku Yara as Merlin Walford, Gara Takashima as Melinda Bowen, Miyu Kubota as Alice Corner, Arisa Shida as Toll von Flegel, Megumi Yamaguchi as Lynn Hughes, Juri Nagatsuma as Yuri Carlton, Chiaki Kobayashi as Tony Freyd, Keisuke Koumoto as Julius von Littenheim, Shōta Hayama as Mark Bean, and Saya Satō as Olivia Stone.

i☆Ris will be performing the opening theme song for the series while Nanami Yoshi is performing ending theme song “Attōteki Vivid Days.”

The light novel series kicked off in the summer of 2016 under Famitsu Bunko while a manga adaptation kicked off in early 2016 from Ogata Shunsuke with eight volumes out as of March 2018.

Plot Concept: A young man dies in a car accident and is reborn in a magical new world. The old, yet wise Merlin finds the boy, names him Shin, raises him from infancy, and teaches him combat and powerful magic along the way. 15years later, Shin is ready to travel the globe on his own, but Merlin forgot to teach him something major—common sense!
