Cuteness Abounds With The ‘Non Non Biyori’ Anime Opening & Closings

When Hotaru moves from Tokyo to a tiny town in the rural countryside, she’s in for some serious culture shock: the nearest place that sells comics is 20 minutes away, the nearest video store is ten train stations down the line, and there are only three other girls and one boy in her entire school!

While fans wait for a third season to come up now that the feature film is well behind us, Crunchyroll is delivering some Non Non Biyori cuteness today. The service has added the opening and closing sequences from the first season which really creates the desire to revisit the show once again. The opening features the song “Nanairo Biyori” by nano.RIPE while the ending theme song is “Non Non Biyori” by ZAQ.

The first two series were directed by Shinya Kawamo based on the overall composition by Reiko Yoshida who also wrote the scripts alongside Fumihiko Shimo and Yuka Yamada. Mai Otsuka served as the character design and the project was animated at Silver Link.

The anime is based on the manga by Atto that began in 2009 under Media Factory, which has eleven volumes so far. Seven Seas Entertainment has the North American license for the manga.

Plot concept: When Hotaru moves from Tokyo to a tiny town in the rural countryside, she’s in for some serious culture shock: the nearest place that sells comics is 20 minutes away, the nearest video store is ten train stations down the line, and there are only three other girls and one boy in her entire school! Even though everything’s so different, there’s something about the laid-back atmosphere that makes her feel strangely comfortable. While she’ll certainly miss parts of her old life, there’s a whole lifetime of experiences waiting to be enjoyed with her new friends Renge, Komari, Natsumi, and Suguru! In the end, it’s who you’re with, not where you are, that makes a place your home!
