‘Tomb Raider’ Sequel Scheduled

With a $275 million worldwide take from its relaunch attempt last year, Tomb Raider didn’t light up the box office like was hoped. Roar Uthaug’s film has its fans to be sure but it was uncertain how MGM would proceed from it. That’s now been answered as a sequel has been given the green light with a March 19th, 2021 release date set for it.

While Alicia Vikander is returning to play the lead character again, Ben Wheatley has com eon board to direct it. The script is coming from Amy Jump with Graham King producing along with Elizabeth Cantillon.

Wheatley has eight films under his belt with Down Terrace starting in 2009. He’s currently doing post-production on Rebecca.
