The Disney+ service launch this year has some big projects coming but it’s also launching with a big one with Star Wars: The Mandalorian. With a potential shift of the one-off films being done as extended series, there’s a lot of appeal there as we have a Cassian Andor series in the works and the first inkling of an Obi-wan series.

But now, all eyes are on The Mandalorian, which had some footage shown earlier this year but not streamed. With the D23 Expo this weekend, we now have the poster for the series and the first trailer for it as well! And the additional cast revealation of Ming-Na Wen having boarded the project!

Lucasfilm previously revealed that the cast in that it would include Pedro Pascal along with Gina Carano and Nick Nolte. We also got an expanded list of who is involved with Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Emily Swallow (Supernatural), Carl Weathers (Predator), Omid Abtahi (American Gods) and Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man).

Jon Favreau is writing it and working as an executive producer on the series. Dave Filoni of the animated side will be directing the first episode while other directors include Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Deborah Chow, and Rick Famuyiwa. Greg Fraser from Star Wars: Rogue One is on board as the cinematographer.

Plot Concept: After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
