Check Out Ten Minutes Of The ‘Black Jack: The Movie’ Anime

Putting those TV doctors to shame.

Add another really great film to the number of titles that RetroCrush is delving into on their channel with the Black Jack movie from the Discotek Media library. The film, clocking in at 93-minutes, is available streaming through a few different services but RetroCrush has brought out a ten-minute clip that showcases just what kind of man the lead character is.

Originally released in North America by Manga Entertainment, the film was directed by Osamu Dezaki based on the screenplay by Eto Mori and Dezaki. Working off of the original character designs by Osamu Tezuka, the feature had adaptations by Akio Sugino and animation was produced by Tezuka Productions.

The Japanese cast includes Akio Ohtsuka as Black Jack and Yuko Mizutani as Pinoko while the English dub, produced by Animaze, includes Sean Thorton as Black Jack and Julie Kliewer as Pinoko. The dub was directed by Quint Lancaster.

Plot concept: Joe Carol Brane attempts to hire Dr. Black Jack on a breed of superhumans that have the strength, intellectual, athletic, and artistic skills with great excel in different fields, only to later find out that they start deteriorating after some period of time and causing an untimely death. Joe needs Dr. Black Jack’s help on finding a cure.
