
The fall 2019 anime adaptation of Ascendance of Bookworm is getting its home video release handled by TBD and they’ve set an interesting release plan for it. The fourteen-episode series. is getting release as a Blu-ray box set on December 27th, 2019 priced at 28,000 yen. It’s also getting four DVD single volume releases priced at 2,800 yen and a fifth at 2,400 yen. Check out the schedule below where you can see how we’ll have DVD releases out at the same time the show is airing.
The show comes from director Mitsuru Hongo based on the series composition by Mariko Kunisawa. Yoshiaki Yanagida and Toshihisa Kaiya are on board for character designs with Ajiado handling the animation production. The series is also set for an October 2019 debut.
The announced cast includes Megumi Nakajima as Turi, Fumiko Orikasa as Eva, Tsuyoshi Koyama as Gunther, Mutsumi Tamura as Lutz, Takehito Koyasu as Penno, Satoshi Hino as Otto, Tomoaki Maeno as Mark, Aya Uchida as Frieda, and Hiroshi Naka as Gustaf.
Megumi Nakajima is on board to perform the ending theme song “Kamikazari no Tenshi” for the show.
The series began ints print run in 2015 and has seventeen volumes to date plus a manga adaptation that’s at seven volumes.

Plot Concept: A certain college girl who’s loved books ever since she was a little girl dies in an accident and is reborn in another world she knows nothing about. She is now Maine, the sickly five-year-old daughter of a poor soldier. To make things worse, the world she’s been reborn in has a very low literacy rate and books mostly don’t exist. She’d have to pay an enormous amount of money to buy one. Maine resolves herself: If there aren’t any books, she’ll just have to make them! Her goal is to become a librarian. This story begins with her quest to make books so she can live surrounded by them! Dive into this biblio-fantasy written for book lovers and bookworms!
