It’s been an odd release schedule for the Kimi ni Todoke anime series as NIS America sometimes remembers that they do have some anime titles still. The distributor released the third set in a DVD/BD combo edition back in 2014 and they’re now releasing just a Blu-ray standard edition. That landed later than planned as it originally had a June 26th, 2019 debut before hitting on July 25th, 2019 priced at $39.99 in Japanese with English subtitles only. That also means that we now have a look at the artwork that has finally landed only showing the release off. Extras include Episode 0 (a recap of Volumes 1 & 2 as seen through the eyes of Kurumi), Two Mini Episodes Featuring Kurumi’s Interpretation of Two Classic Fairy Tales, Clean Opening & Closing.
And no, it doesn’t look like the first or second sets ever got editions like this.
The book comes from creator Karuho Shiina which began serialization in Bessatsu Margaret back in 2006 and has twenty-nine volumes to its name so far in Japan with two seasons of anime production as well as a live-action film.
Plot concept: After ringing in the new year with her crush at their local shrine, things seem to be going well between Sawako and Kazehaya. However, a new year means new obstacles to overcome, and a young girl’s first love is no exception. When Sawako begins to doubt herself, her rival Kurumi senses it and makes a few comments that push Sawako’s confidence back to zero. When you add in Kazehaya’s misunderstandings as well as a new boy in class who seems to like Sawako the same way Kazehaya does, it sums up to equal another exciting school year!
