‘Giant Robo’ Anime Blu-ray Release Detailed

With a Japanese 4K remaster done back in 2012, a Korean Blu-ray box set in 2013, and our request to upgrade this earlier this year, there’s a lot to look forward to with Discotek Media announcing their acquisition of Giant Robo this past weekend. They picked up the show back in August 2018 and it’s been quiet since as to how they’ll be bringing out the seven-episode OVA series. At Otakon, they confirmed a Blu-ray release will arrive in November 2019 which they’ve now detailed. The release was clarified going back to their original statement last summer in that the Ginrei Special will be a separate release and not included. What is included as extras, however, have been detailed with:

1. Features commentaries with production staff
2. Episode 1: Kappei Yamaguchi (Daisaku) and Sumi Shimamoto (Ginrei)
3. Episode 3: Kazuyoshi Katayama (Animation Director) and Yamashita Akihiko (Animation Director, Character Design)
4. Episode 4: Les Claypool (Producer, Recordist, and Mixer for the Animaze English dub) and Mary Claypool (Producer and ADR writer for the Animaze English dub)
5. Episode 5: Masamichi Amano (music composer) and Yota Tsuruoka (sound designer)
6. Episode 7: Yamashita Akihiko (Chief Animation Director eps 7), Masami Ozone (Animation Director), Kenji Hayama (Animation Director)
7. Roundtable Interview with the Japanese creators (over 1 hour long)
8. Japanese trailers and commercials (so many)
9. English-language trailers (not as many, but a few)
10. Italian trailers (at least three)
11. Video Game Commercials
12. Scoring Giant Robo series for episodes 1, 2, 3, 6, and 7
