What They Say:
No shelter, no food, no water… when four girls get shipwrecked on a deserted island, they’re in big trouble! …Or so you’d think, but they’re actually doing great! They don’t have anything, so they’ll make what they need to! They’ll eat what they need to! It’s a deserted island story of intelligence and courage!

The girls haven’t been here long enough to go native as it were but you can imagine after a couple of days that they’re going to have to learn how to clean their outfits – or figure out some kind of alternative. The show starts off cutely enough with them enjoying the critters that they caught recently so they at least get something of a filling meal here so they can tackle the new day that will be coming. It’s cute in seeing how they’re surprised by how much they like the little critters that they’ve caught and cooked but it just sets the stage for Homare to tell them that they’re going after bigger fare from this point forward.

There’s some fun to be had in how they figure out some of this early on and just how far they’ll go for food in setting up traps and the size of their target. But we also get the problem of potentially poisonous frogs as well, which leads to one of the girls using her removed skirt as a way to transport it. Though there’s still some division to be had in the ranks, most are listening to Homare as she does seem to have her head on straight and knows what she’s talking about, even if they don’t care for it. Homare does again dominate the episode because ofher nature and the way she’s so forward with the others but it works well enough since she does know what she’s doing. The setting up of traps is fun to watch, the way Homare makes it clear that she’s got the right ideas, and even the subservience of the others to let go of assuming power in this situation shows well how each individual reacts to a situation like this.

In Summary:
While I do wish we’d get a bit more on these characters backstories and some of how all of this came to be, the show is finding a pretty good groove to get into. I like the way Homare handles everything with a straightforward approach that provides a nice contrast to everyone else. It’s enjoyable and silly with just enough fanservice but it leaves me wanting just a little bit more meat to in terms of the larger storyline.
