What They Say
The raid on the Hassaikai gang is in full swing, and the heroes plunge into the darkness toward their ultimate confrontation. Lemillion engages Overhaul in an attempt to rescue Eri, and the battle reaches a new level of intensity. Midoriya is desperate to help his mentor, but what fate has Nighteye foreseen for them all in this clash? And does the key to Midoriya’s survival lie in Eri herself?

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
There are a couple of elements running throughout this volume, so let’s start where the book does, with the League of Villains. Or more specifically, with Toga and Twice, who were sent to work alongside the yakuza. Their actual impact on the proceedings is honestly kind of minor like they were just shoved into the arc, as they don’t really do a whole lot but low key help out the heroes in order to get revenge. But honestly… I’m not especially upset about it, as they’re just plain fun to watch. Heck, even the info dump about their powers is kind of neat, as it’s a little foreshadowing to something that’s explained more openly later.

The real heart and soul of this volume, and honestly this arc in general, though, is Lemillion. Thanks to his powers, he catches up to Overhaul, and ends up in a fight against not just the yakuza boss himself, but also multiple of his henchmen. And man does Mirio ever prove himself hands down the best character in the series, as what results is just plain perfect. Seriously, even if you weren’t huge on the guy before this volume, I have a hard time imagining anyone reading this volume and coming away without loving him. It’s simply amazing and easily one of the best scenes the series has had in general this far.

Anyway, just how will things turn out when all the heroes swarm onto the scene? And will they be able to do the impossible and overturn the fate that Nighteye has seen in the process?

In Summary
For a fair bit of its page count, this book is another solid entry in the series, trending perhaps a bit better than usual. The League of Villains are really amusing despite being somewhat bit players, and watching everything hit a climax in a big bombastic fight makes for some definite fun. Fortunately though, this book has a particular card up its sleeve that pushes it way ahead of all that: Lemillion. Seeing him in action is simply amazing, and everything with him here is played so perfectly that his scenes are not just the highlight of this volume, but also amongst the best the series has ever had in general. So ultimately, thanks to him, this already good volume really is elevated to something truly special that’s absolutely worth a read.
