Yuma and Haruhi are both students at Mizuhosaka Academy, but since the classes for magic users and non-magic users are kept completely separate, the odds of their ever getting to know each other are impossibly small.

Happiness HuluWith the series hitting DVD from Maiden Japan way back on April 1st, 2014, it’s a bit surprising that it’s taken this long to make its way over to HIDIVE. The full twelve episode run of Happiness is set to go live on HIDIVE in the US and Canada on July 20th, 2019 at 1:00 pm ET along with the OVA. The work is based on the game of the same name from Windmill that came out in 2005 which also got a manga adaptation and a series of light novels.

Check out our review of the series.

Originally airing in the fall 2006 season, the series was directed by Hiroshi Hara based on the series composition by Satoru Nishizono. Masaru Koseki served as the chief animation director and character designer with Artland handling the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Mai Goto as Sumomo Kohinata, Mia Naruse as Anri Hiiragi, Takashi Oohara as Yuuma Kohinata, Yui Sakakibara as Haruhi Kamisaka, Yura Hinata as Koyuki Takamine, Chizuko Hoshino as Otoha Kohinata, Hitomi as Suzuri Minagi, Kentaro Ito as Shinya Kamijo, Michiru Yuimoto as Jun Watarase, Oma Ichimura as Ibuki Shikimori, Shizuka Itou as Saya Kamijo, and Takuo Kawamura as Hachisuke Takamizo.

Plot concept: Yuma and Haruhi are both students at Mizuhosaka Academy, but since the classes for magic users and non-magic users are kept completely separate, the odds of their ever getting to know each other are impossibly small. But then a gas explosion on Valentine’s Day renders the Magic section unusable, leaving the school with no choice except to make everything co-ed. As a result, mage in training Haruhi and her best friend Anri find themselves transferred into a normal class with Yuma and his best friends Hachisuke and Jun. Although how “normal” they are is debatable given that Hachi might be the world’s biggest letch and Jun prefers to wear the girl’s school uniform rather than the one for the guys. And there’s something about Yuma as well, something that Haruhi notices almost immediately. But is Yuma aware of it yet? Whatever the answer, the most magical year of classes for both of them is about to begin, and the most important lessons learned won’t be on conjuring or geometry. Gather up your schoolbooks, calculators and magic wands, as a boy and a girl discover the real secret to HAPPINESS!
