‘Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun’ Anime Adaptation Detailed

"Hanako-san, Hanako-san...are you there?"

We learned in March 2019 that Iro Aida’s manga series Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun is getting an anime adaptation. The official TBS site has updated to reveal a key visual for the 2020 series that you can see below while also bringing out some of the staff. The series has Masaomi Andou directing based on the series composition by Yasuhiro Nakanishi. Mayuki Itou is on board with the character designs while Lerche will be producing the animation.

It’s known as Jibaku Shōnen Hanako-kun in Japan and began in the magazine in 2014 and has ten volumes out as of the end of this month in Japan. It’s been getting released digitally in English by Yen Press who has the first nine volumes available so far.

Plot Concept: “Hanako-san, Hanako-san…are you there?”

At Kamome Academy, rumors abound about the school’s Seven Mysteries, one of which is Hanako-san. Said to occupy the third stall of the third floor girls’ bathroom in the old school building, Hanako-san grants any wish when summoned. Nene Yashiro, an occult-loving high school girl who dreams of romance, ventures into this haunted bathroom…but the Hanako-san she meets there is nothing like she imagined! Kamome Academy’s Hanako-san…is a boy!
