With Netflix working a lot of anime projects these days and some “blended crossover” style projects like Castlevania, it’s not a surprise to see more creative talent looking into the medium more. Zack Snyder, whose last main project was the Justice League movie, is doing just that as he’s developing an anime series based on Norse mythology for the streaming service.
He’s working with a regular collaborator in Jay Olivia, a storyboard artist behind a lot of Snyders films. Olivia is set as the showrunner for the project and is listed as co-creator, director, and executive producer on it.
“Zack Snyder’s innovation in visual storytelling has pushed the industry forward and established him as one of the most distinctive filmmakers of his generation. We are beyond excited to partner with him and his exceptional team to bring the iconic characters and stories of Norse mythology to life in his inimitable style,” said John Derderian, head of Anime programming for Netflix.
