King Records Reveals New ‘Neon Genesis Evangelion’ TV & Original Anime Film DVD Release Artwork

2 min read

With Netflix set to bring out the original Neon Genesis Evangelion TV series as well as the two feature films that were produced with Death True and The End of Evangelion this month, King Records in Japan has lined up some plans for new home video release editions. The distributor has set a July 24th, 2019 release for a Blu-ray box set priced at 18,000 yen that will include the above projects and all their original extras from prior releases. We previously had a look at the simple but effective Blu-ray box set packaging but now we’ve got the full eight-volume DVD run that goes back to the original style and covers to great effect, making me feel really nostalgic.

Additionally, fans can get the eight volumes of single Blu-ray releases for 3,800 yen each, with the last one being 3,600 yen. They can also do the same with the DVD side where it’s at 3,500 yen per volume and the final being 3,300 yen.

This is basically a priced-down version of the 2015 material that was released.

Property Concept: At the turn of the century, the Angels returned to Earth, seeking to wipe out humanity in an apocalyptic fury. Devastated, mankind’s last remnants moved underground to wait for the day when the Angels would come back to finish the job. Fifteen years later, that day has come – but this time, humanity is ready to fight back with terrifying bio-mechanical weapons known as the Evangelions. Now it’s up to Shinji, Rei, Asuka and the rest of the mysterious shadow agency NERV to save Earth from total annihilation!
