Hulu Dropping Support For Most DVD/BD Players Next Month

1 min read

Hulu is rolling out a new interface and app this summer as part of a long-term plan and that’s coming with some changes. One of those changes is that they’re phasing out support for a number of devices, largely when it comes to DVD and Blu-ray players. According to the CordCutterNews site, the exceptions will be the Sony 4K Blu-ray players and the Samsung Tizen Blu-ray players.

Hulu has seen a lot of changes over the course of its life but this one isn’t thought to be a part of Disney gaining a majority ownership in it as part of their Fox acquisition this spring and the other partners leaving. Massive software updates and overall interface overhauls take a lot of time and it’s thought that they’re cutting away developing for systems that only bring in a small fraction of their overall audience in favor of developing for where the bulk of them are.
