Fans who have picked up the J-Novel Club release of Ascendance of Bookworm learned back in March that it’s being slotted for an anime adaptation. We’ve had some good details for it so far but now the official site has done a solid update by revealing more of the cast, a new group key visual, and a new promotional spot for it that gives us a better feel for the project. The show comes from director Mitsuru Hongo based on the series composition by Mariko Kunisawa. Yoshiaki Yanagida and Toshihisa Kaiya are on board for character designs with Ajiado handling the animation production. The series is also set for an October 2019 debut.
The previously announced cast includes Megumi Nakajima as Turi, Fumiko Orikasa as Eva, Tsuyoshi Koyama as Gunther, and Mutsumi Tamura as Lutz. Check out their character designs below.

The series began ints print run in 2015 and has seventeen volumes to date plus a manga adaptation that’s at seven volumes.

Plot Concept: A certain college girl who’s loved books ever since she was a little girl dies in an accident and is reborn in another world she knows nothing about. She is now Maine, the sickly five-year-old daughter of a poor soldier. To make things worse, the world she’s been reborn in has a very low literacy rate and books mostly don’t exist. She’d have to pay an enormous amount of money to buy one. Maine resolves herself: If there aren’t any books, she’ll just have to make them! Her goal is to become a librarian. This story begins with her quest to make books so she can live surrounded by them! Dive into this biblio-fantasy written for book lovers and bookworms!
