Set for a July 26th, 2019 premiere on Amazon with Prime memberships, The Boys now has a first-look piece out that’s a lot of fun. Clocking in at four minutes or so, it shows off some new footage from the series and talks with the cast and creative about what the show is like and their views on it. Based on the comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the series is one that plays heavily into the how superheroes would be dealt with in reality angle in the grim and gritty way and with lots of sexuality and humor. Check out our recent review of the first omnibus release.
The TV series was developed by Eric Kripke with Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen and stars Karl Urban, Elisabeth Shue, Erin Moriarty, Antony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Nathan Mitchell, Laz Alonso, Jack Quaid, Karen Fukuhara, and Tomer Kapon.
Plot Concept: THE BOYS is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about “The Seven,” and their formidable Vought backing.
