It was all the way back on August 26th, 2017 that we got the premiere of the One Piece – Episode Of East Blue: Luffy And His Friends? Great Adventure special in Japan and now we’re finally closing in on the home video release for it. The special is one that was nicely timed as this year marks the 20th anniversary of the manga but it’s taken its time in getting ready for a home video release. That’s set for a September 24th, 2019 debut as a DVD/BD combo release and Funimation has now rolled out the packaging for it, which thankfully uses the fun key visual that was designed for the broadcast run. The bilingual set clocks in at 107 minutes and features one extra with the One Piece: The Journey and the Legacy look. It’s priced at $34.98 and you can see the finalized cover below.
The special is being directed by Takashi Otsuka based on the script by Tomohiro Nakayama. Masayuki Sato is handling the character designs and serving as the chief animation director.
