With the 20th-anniversary release for Devilman Lady on Blu-ray in Japan earlier this year, there’s some welcome distribution for the show out there – just in standard definition. Midnight Pulp has brought the full twenty-six episode series to their streaming app on Amazon Prime for viewing where Prime members can watch for free while everyone else can buy it for a buck an episode – no full season pricing is available, sadly. The show is also in its English dubbed form with closed-caption subtitles.

Known also as Devil Lady, the series ran for twenty-six episodes from the fall of 1998 through the winter 199 seasons. The manga from Go Nagai for it ran from January 1997 for seventeen volumes before ending in the summer of 2000 in Weekly Morning magazine. ADV Films previously picked up and released the series on DVD in 2003 and it’s expected that it’s unlicensed at this point.

The series was directed by Toshiki Hirano with scripts by Chiaki Konaka, Keiichi Hasegawa, Kenji Konuta, Masano Akahoshi, and Sadayuki Murai. Shinobu Nishioka handled the character designs while Dynamic Planning and TMS Entertainment handled the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Junko Iwao as Jun Fudou/Devilman Lady and Kaoru Shimamura as Ran Asuka.

Plot Concept: Fudo Jun is a beautiful supermodel who is idolized by many. She also has a dark secret that not even she knows about at first, for within her veins run the genes that hold the next step in the evolution of mankind. The same blood as the beastlike superhumans that terrorize the city. Unlike the rest of them, though, Jun has managed to hold a tenuous grip onto her humanity, and she is recruited by the mysterious Asuka Ran, member of a secret organization within the government, aimed at controlling, if not eliminating, these berserk destroyers of mankind. Jun, as Devilman Lady, must now exterminate her own kind, but how much longer can she keep her sanity in a situation she never chose in the first place.
