The anime adaptation of the Mix manga from Mitsuru Adachi got underway this past weekend and the service is set to bring out new episodes every Saturday at 10:00 am ET for their members with a same-day simuldub as well. Now, Funimation is doing some welcome looks inside the production that I wish we got with more of their shows. The latest piece is from the English side as we get ADR Director Anthony Bowling showing us some behind the scenes material in with a second round with Dani Chambers’ performance as Otomi Tachibana as they focus on the fourth episode of the series.
The show will be directed by Odahiro Watanabe based on the series composition by Atsuhiro Tomioka. Tatsuto Higuchi, Kenichi Yamada, Yoshifumi Fukushima, and Chinatsu Houjou are all working on scripts for it. Takao Maki is handling character designs while OLM is handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Noriko Hidaka as Minami Asakura, Yuuki Kaji as Toma Tachibana, Yumi Uchida as Soichiro Tachibana, Ryusei Nakao as Isami Nishimura, and Maaya Uchida as Otomi Tachibana.
The dub has Anthony Bowling as the ADR director with scripts by Jeramey Kraata and Matt Shipman. The English cast includes Josh Bangle as Daisuke (Nikaidо̄), Emily Fajardo as Dog 1A (Punch), Bryan Massey as Eisuke, Alejandro Saab as Ichiban (Natsuno), Kyle Phillips as Koma, Mike McFarland as Kuroyanagi, Mallorie Rodak as Mayumi, Dawn M. Bennett as Narrator 1A, Dani Chambers as Otomi, Dani Chambers as Otomi (young), Clifford Chapin as Sо̄ichirо̄, Clifford Chapin as Sо̄ichirо̄ (young), Dallas Reid as Tadashi (Imakawa), Howard Wang as Tо̄ma, Howard Wang as Tо̄ma (young), and Kate Bristol as Yoshiko.
The manga from Mitsuru Adachi launched in 2012 and has thirteen volumes out this year. It’s related to the events in the Touch manga that ran for twenty-six volumes during the early 1980s.
Plot Concept: A new generation steps up to the plate in a moving sequel to the 1985 baseball manga, Touch. Stepbrothers Touma and Suichirou are ace players on Meisei High School’s baseball team, and thanks to them, the team may finally have a chance at returning to nationals. But little by little, a tragic legacy unfolds as the stepbrothers follow in their fathers’ footsteps.
