22nd ‘Dororo’ Anime Episode Previewed

The twenty-second episode is set to arrive on June 10th, 2019 and the first promotional spot for it has arrived.

The new adaptation of the Osamu Tezuka Dororo manga that he created back in 1967 is underway and some new promotion has landed for it. The twenty-second episode is set to arrive on June 10th, 2019 and the first promotional spot for it has arrived. Kazuhiro Furuhashi is directing it based on the series composition by Yasuko Kobayashi. Satoshi Iwataki is handling the character designs with MAPPA handling the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Hiroki Suzuki as Hyakkimaru, Rio Suzuki as Dororo, Mutsumi Sasaki as Biwamaru, Naoya Uchida as Daigo Kagemitsu, Shōya Chiba as Tahōmaru, Akio Ohtsuka as Jukai, Chie Nakamura as Nuinokata, and Mugihito as the narrator.

Vertical Comics released the manga back in 2012. Anime Sols attempted to bring the 1969 series over a few years back via crowdfunding. A Japanese release did hit in 2015.

Plot Concept: The setting is the middle of the Muromachi Period, during the 1470s after the Wars of Onin and Bunmei. The story begins in the Noto Peninsula of the Hokuriku District. The main character (Hyakkimaru), who lacks as much as 48 body parts, obtains a fake body and eliminates 48 monsters that were made from his body to retrieve his missing body parts.
