The Food Wars! manga is in for some changes and it’s the kind of thing you have to look at just how it’s being phrased. The latest installment of Weekly Shonen Jump has revelaed that there are three chapters left in the series, so it’ll end later this month. But at the same time, they have a “big announcement” for the manga on the day it ends. That could mean all sorts of things, but focusing on the manga itself it’s likely to get a “second generation” or “Food Wars X” relaunch so as to spice it up and reinvigorate the sales.

The series comes from Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki that began in 2012 and has thirty-four volumes out so far in Japan. Viz Media has been bringing it over here while the anime has been coming out with a couple of well-received seasons so far of the anime distributed by Sentai Filmworks.

Plot concept: Soma Yukihira’s old man runs a small family restaurant in the less savory end of town. Aiming to one day surpass his father’s culinary prowess, Soma hones his skills day in and day out until one day, out of the blue, his father decides to enroll Soma in a classy culinary school! Can Soma really cut it in a school that prides itself on a 10 percent graduation rate? And can he convince the beautiful, domineering heiress of the school that he belongs there at all?!
