After burning through so much material the week before with heavy binging in the background, we did the same but in more limited form this past week. With the finales for Riverdale and The Flash the week prior, we had those as season passes on iTunes and that meant a full-season watch, which did bind each of those shows together better in terms of flow. Riverdale has issues with some of its story choices but I enjoyed it overall. The Flash was a great season for me as Jessica Kennedy Parker nailed it as Nora and added something very fun to the show, making me look forward to what’s to come in the fall as there are a lot of changes afoot.

This week also had me finishing off a few other shows like Supergirl as well, but the one that did me in was the finale for Fosse/Verdon. That series was a hard watch in giving us a look at their lives, the ups and downs, and knowing how some aspects of it were to come together amid the production. I had only seen a couple of film adaptations of their works, such as A Chorus Line and Chicago, but this has me wanting to go back and check out a lot of their movies. In fact, Cabaret was on sale this week in a way that timed out nicely so that I can see that with some new context.

The biggest thing for me this week was getting a couple of DC Universe shows watched. The finale for Doom Patrol was as batshit crazy as I expected it to be. it was a delight that just did everything right and left me super pleased for its existence and super hopeful for a second season. The show has gotten a lot of critical acclaim as it moved into its second half with more people checking it out. The other show that we took in was the premiere of Swamp Thing and oh my god that show has me so excited. Check out our initial thoughts on it here.

One of the shows that I don’t get to watch unless I have both kids with me is iZombie. We had that happen this past week and that meant a chance to burn through the first four episodes. It’s the final season and I’m sad to see it go as this is an amazing cast with way too much fun to what’s going on. But it’s reaching a point after some radical changes where it needs to hit some closure. At this point, I’ll watch most of them anywhere and I hope Rose McIver in particular lands well as she is such a standout here.

There’s a bit of a lull coming up with my summer shows not getting underway for a few weeks and that means a chance to nail down a few remaining Netflix shows after I did more purging recently. The main one that I want to get through is a docudrama with Roman Empire as it digs into some interesting history and dramatizations of how it unfolded.

What’s keeping you glued to the screen?
