After the previous week was such a big one for movies in getting through a number of them, I’m not too surprised that this week eased off – especially as the TV side picked up and I foolishly picked up a game on the cheap with Cities: Skylines that sucked up my evenings.

That said, a few things did slip through to take in that made for some fun. One that I really enjoyed revisiting was Superman: Unbound. This property delights with the use of Supergirl in a strong way to bring her into the animated side, played to the fun of the bottle cities, and provided for a great incarnation of Braniac that we’re getting a taste of in Krypton these days.

I also went back to a classic on the anime film side with a viewing of Vampire Hunter D as the original is still a delight with its designs and approach.

Less enjoyable was taking in a second and more casual viewing of the 2018 Suspiria film. If anything, that has me just wanting to go back and read more about the project, its origins, the original film, and the psychology of it all. That third act though, man… damn.

Sadly, no trips to the theater either as holiday weekends and other commitments are keeping me from one of my favorite past times. It really does seem like the shift from going to the theater to just going digital at home happened after MoviePass collapsed for me.
