‘Symphogear XV’ Anime Gets New Key & Character Visuals

2 min read
In a world where aliens known as “The Noise” threaten the earth, only one thing can protect the human race: the magical armor Symphogear.

The redheaded stepchild of the domestic anime licensing side, Symphogear, revealed back in March 2018 that they were bringing out the fifth season as part of the spring 2019 season in April. The project is known as Symphogear XV and the official site revealed last December that it’s being delayed until the summer 2019 season in July. It’s been quiet since then overall in regard to this series but a new round of updates has landed with a new key visual and six character visuals for the series.

Seasons have been rolling out since 2012 with a mix of awkwardly picked up streaming deals but no home video releases to be had in North America.

The fourth series was directed by Katsumo Ono, features character designs from Satoru Fujimoto and is animated by Satelight.

The Japanese cast includes Ai Kayano as Kirika Akatsuki, Aoi Yūki as Hibiki Tachibana, Ayahi Takagaki as Chris Yukine, Nana Mizuki as Tsubasa Kazanari, Yōko Hikasa as Maria Cadenzavna Eve and Yoshino Nanjō as Shirabe Tsukuyomi.

The franchise began back in 2012 with two more seasons coming in 2013 and 2015 respectively. Funimation originally streamed the first season of the series but passed on the others as they did not pursue a home video license. All three seasons also streamed on Crunchyroll.

Original concept: In a world where aliens known as “The Noise” threaten the earth, only one thing can protect the human race: the magical armor Symphogear. But in order to save their world, the Symphogear wearers will have to learn from the tragedies of the past.
