Avex Pictures Showcases First ‘Fruits Basket’ Anime DVD/BD Release Artwork

The spring 2019 anime series Fruits Basket has its home video releases being handled by Avex Pictures and they’ve set a varied release pattern for it. The first release is coming up soon and now the main cover artwork has been released that will shape and define the run as a whole. It’s being done as a six-volume release that begins on June 21st, 2019 where the DVDs and Blu-rays are priced the same. The first two and last three volumes are priced at 10,000 yen each while the third volume is priced at 12,500 yen with it being a bit longer. Check the full schedule below!

The new series has Yoshihide Ibata directing based on the series composition by Taku Kishimoto. Masaru Shindo is handling the character designs with TMS Entertainment handling the production.

The Japanese cast includes Manaka Iwami as Tohru Honda, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Yuki Sohma, Yūma Uchida as Kyo Sohma, Yūichi Nakamura as Shigure Sohma, Atsumi Tanezaki as Arisa Uotani, Satomi Satou as Saki Hanajima, Kazuyuki Okitsu as Hatori Sōma, Maaya Sakamoto as Akito Sohma, Takahiro Sakurai as Ayame Sōma, Miyuki Sawashiro as Kyoko Honda, and M.A.O. as Motoko Minagawa.

The English cast includes Laura Bailey as Tohru Honda, Eric Vale as Yuki Soma, Jerry Jewel as Kyo Soma, John Burgmeier as Shigura Soma, Tia Ballard as Kagura Soma, Mikaela Krantz as Momiji Krantz, Justin Cook as Hatsuharu Soma, Kent Williams as Hatori Soma, Elizabeth Maxwell as Arisa Uotani, Colleen Clinkenbeard has come on as Akito Soma, Christopher R. Sabat as Ayame Soma, and Jad Saxton as Saki Hanajima.

The manga began in 1998 and an anime adaptation was produced in 2001 that ran for twenty-six episodes. The main manga wrapped up in 2006 and Fruits Basket Another kicked off in 2015 and has three volumes. The original series ran for twenty-three volumes which Yen Press has put out in omnibus editions.

Plot concept: When a member of the Sohma family is embraced by a person of the opposite gender, they transform into an animal of the Chinese Zodiac! A young girl stumbles upon their hidden secret and life at the Sohma house changes forever! Young Tohru Honda must promise the secret will remain her own… or face the consequences!
