Crunchyroll has another Discotek Media property lined up for streaming with The Legend of Black Heaven now available in bilingual form. The 1999 series was originally released and dubbed by Geneon Entertainment on DVD back in the day and it ran for thirteen episodes. It got a lot of attention for the opening theme song by John Sykes.

Directed by Yasuhito Kikuchi, Naruhisa Arakawa worked on the series composition with Kazuto Nakazawa handling the character designs. AIC and APPP handled the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Kōji Ishii as Oji Tanaka, Miho Yamada as Layla, Atsuko Enomoto as Kotoko, Ayako Kawasumi as Rinko, Kae Araki as Yoshiko Tanaka, Miwa Yanagihara as Eriko, Rica Fukami as Hamil, and Rikako Aikawa as Gen Tanaka.

The English cast includes Diva West as Layla Yuki, John Billingslea as Oji Tanaka, Bambi Darro as Rinko, Emily Brown as Kotoko, Ian Hawk as Gen Tanaka, Katie Ashley as Eriko, Marie Downing as Kotoko, Melissa Williamson as Hamil, and Michelle Ruff as Yoshiko Tanaka.

Plot Concept: Life can crush your dreams. Oji is a middle-management drone whose only grip on sanity, in the drudgery of his corporate lifestyle, are the few shreds of hope surrounding his past life as the amazing guitarist of Black Heaven, a heavy metal band that almost made it. In his bleakest moment, the magic of performing is restored to him when a beautiful mysterious woman informs him that only his special sound can save the universe from an evil alien invasion.
