Mamoru Oshii has a long line of strong credits to his name in general over the years and when he gets involved in a project it’s worth paying attention to. According to ANN, it’s been revealed through the real estate company Ichigo that they’ve formed an Ichigo Animation division as of April 4th, 2019 where its sole purpose is to fund and produce the series as the sole investor. No details were provided about the project beyond that Oshii is serving as writing the original story, handling the scripts, and working as the chief director for it with it planned for a spring 2020 debut.
Mamoru Oshii goes back to the first OVA with Dallos while also working on my favorite film with Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer as well as a lot of the TV series. He’s spent a lot of time on film projects such as Patlabor and Jin-Roh and the Ghost in the Shell property among others.
