What They Say:
After Syr pulls off a winning hand in the V.I.P. room’s high-stakes poker game, Lyu demands the release of all the women Terry has collected.

However, it seems Terry isn’t so keen to honor the rules of his own establishment … Will Lyu and Syr make it out of the Grand Casino alive, let alone with the girls they hope to rescue!?

Content (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
Syr has blazed the path forward for the final assault to reclaim the girls which the disgusting and corrupt Terry has claimed for his own, however even in the midst of certain defeat this foul man will not admit he has been cornered. Seeing no other avenue for escape this former owner of the Grand Casino releases his final trump card, two bodyguards which he has been keeping in reserve for only the direst of emergencies – enforcers known in the underworld as Black Cat Lolo and Black Fist Faust. As this intimidating pair of tuxedo dressed men rush forward at their employer’s command, Lyu recalls when she first heard their names five years ago during the Dark Ages of Orario, an assassin and bounty hunter who never failed a mission and were a nuisance even for her beloved Astrea Familia. These mercenaries were powerful enough to take on second-tier adventurers but even now this agile elf is able to easy dodge every blow, the coordinated attacks intimidate the crowd of innocent victims who are watching the outcome with bated breath and as such they are too afraid to do anything aside from watch helplessly.

It is at this moment when the cowardly Terry once again attempts to take advantage of the situation, hastily ordering his employees to take Anna and Syr into custody, but the platinum-haired waitress has other plans. Not wishing to worry her otherwise preoccupied friend Flover calmly takes control of the situation, forcefully clapping her hands to grab the attention of the other somber prisoners and asks in a calm and soothing voice if they are beautiful birds trapped in a cage waiting to be rescued or are they able to free themselves with the fiery spirit which dwells within them – and with that rousing speech Syr cheerfully encourages them to fight for their own well deserved freedom. Igniting a bonfire from their frustration the lovely escorts unsurprisingly riot against the cruelty of their keeper, causing a stunned Cervantes to only now consider a chance he may lose everything he has connived and cheated others to gain. As the turmoil from once loyal customers threatens to spill out of the once serene V.I.P. Room his primary concern are shouts for Ganesha Familia to come intervene, endangering his devilish dealings and villainous lifestyle which he has enjoyed for far too long that has been kept secret from everyone outside his inner circle, even hidden from the all-powerful Guild. However as Lyu continues to fight Black Cat and Black Fist to a wild standstill, the chaos of the conflict only escalates the surging panic and eventually bring everything crumbling down … what is a selfish cheat supposed to do?

In Summary:
With the climax of the main story now an exhilarating explosion of excitement, this volume of the series is nothing less than enthrallingly satisfying as we watch our heroines strive forward to right the wrongs perpetrated by the wickedness of an unscrupulous man named Terry Cervantes. While the light novel written by Omori-sensei was enticing, to watch the vagueness of words become a thrilling symphony of intensity due to the talented pen of mangaka Momoyama-sensei thankfully adds a new level of delirious anticipation to absorb as her enticing illustrations create visual enthusiasm which we never knew existed to fully enjoy the dominating power of this conclusion. She has our undivided attention from the beginning – to watch a dashing Lyu fearlessly confront two powerful men is invigorating and in contrast the cheery disposition of Syr keeping the girls calm is delightful, each fully utilizing their unique skills to keep the situation under control all as the reader and enslaved witness the awesome sight of two captivating women (or singular since they all assume Leon is a man). You never miss the exclusion of Bell since the narrative is so well constructed, projecting Lyu as the primary protagonist and allowing her sense of justice plus a need to fulfill Astrea Familia obligations to propel us into her world of intrigue seamlessly and with utmost pleasure as we watch Gale Wind dispense judgment to those who think they are above the law. But as the story ends you cannot but smile knowing even someone blacklisted by the Guild will step up if she deems the cause worthy … all the while with the help of her friend backing up the awkwardness of an elf who cannot allow the corrupt to do as they please.

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Familia Chronicles: Episode Lyu is a worthy escape from the Dungeon dominating stories of the series, allowing characters who usually play supporting roles to shine brightly with all their deserving brilliance. The usually silent elf is magnificent in the story and her enchanting friend whimsically assists all in the name of fun … and yet they get the job done with their own sense of style and endearing charm as we cannot but smile in complete satisfaction to know even common people can seek justice if you know the right people at the Benevolent Mistress. The delightful humor and gripping action keep our attention glued to the page in anticipation what may happen next, but as one story ends and the next chapter brings new promises we are captivated by future possibilities and excitement, making the obligatory wait for the next book a painful period but also a happy excuse to reread prior volumes all over again.
