With a simple hook about girls who like different types of tights and their quality, based on some visual work that’s definitely appealing to a lot of people and obviously fetishists, I was curious to see the reality of this series since I, uh, have a hankering for tights myself. With some gorgeous animation and attention to detail that you can work with when it’s just a four-minute episode, there’s a lot to like here from this standpoint. But can it tell a tale centered around such interests?

A rainy day start to a new school year brings together a group of girls who enjoy different thickness and style of tights as we see Yua and Ren get together. Ren’s struggling a bit after getting her tights wet in the rain and not wearing proper boots, so it’s creative in seeing how they showcase her drying them. Homi’s arrival shows her getting her shoes wet as well and then jumping through all the puddles since the damage was already done. You get a lot from this for base personality traits and watching them move about their early day together, expressions and all, definitely delights. Especially as Homi is basically an exhibitionist to a good degree. What’s delightful is that the homeroom teacher is quite the tights aficionado herself, giving us another style to look at and for the girls to remember their own inferiority to a grown woman.
In Summary:
Light on the story but setting up the character basics, Miru Tights is about what I had expected and, quite honestly, hoped for. It’s designed around the male gaze as applied to tights and it’s just wonderful in that regard. For those with a love of it, an admiration of it, or just a full on fetish, we’re treated to some beautifully designed legs that are covered on the lovely of lovelies with tights. I’m not expecting much in the way of story but just a minor slice of life shorts-style storytelling with a heavy focus and focal point of the tights. And that’s a-ok in my book.
