Crunchyroll Adds ‘Senryu Girl’ For Spring 2019 Anime Lineup

The spring 2019 anime adaptation of the Senryu Girl property has itself a new streaming partner. With HIDIVE bringing it out on its debut back on April 5th, 2019, Crunchyroll has now stepped in to bring it to their membership. Availability for it is limited to viewers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, and Central and South America.

The anime will be directed by Masato Jinbo who is also handling the script supervision. Maki Hashimoto is working on the character designs with CONNECT handling the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Kana Hanazawa as Nanako Yukishiro, Tasuku Hatanaka as Eiji Buisujima, Sayuri Yahagi as Amane Katagiri, Rikako Aida as Koto Ōtsuki, Misaki Kuno as Kino Yakobe, and Sumire Uesaka as Tao Hanakai.

Based on the manga by Masakuni Igarashi, the original work began in 2016 in Weekly Shonen Magazine and has seven volumes out so far.

The opening theme song “Kotonoha no Omoi” is performed by Sonoko Inoue while the ending theme song “Ordinary Love” from Rikako Aida.

Plot Concept: Nanako is a girl who can only communicate what she wants to say by using senryū, a poetry style similar to haiku more focused on humor. Eiji is an intimidating but kind boy who is a member of the school literature club. The manga tells the story of the pair’s cheerful everyday interactions through 17 syllables.
