While there’s always been some reported frustration on Jeremy Renner’s part for how Hawkeye has been handled in the films with the stories for him, it looks like there’s a chance to really move him forward in a good way. We’re seeing some of that potential based on the way his role is changing in Avengers: Endgame as he takes on the look of Ronin and the name.
Now, it looks like he’ll get to flex a bit more with a Hawkeye series being developed for the Disney+ service. This is one where he can smoothly transition out of that role as it’ll be about introducing the Kate Bishop character from the Young Avengers comics that takes on the mantle.
Marvel is developing multiple projects as long-form film at a lower cost that wouldn’t make sense to try and compact into a film and utilizing the actors from the films as well. But it’s also serving as a way to seed in some characters that can grow a bit and potentially transition to film as well.
