With the third Strike the Blood OVA series in the midst of release, the first season is going to find a new lease on life thanks to Warner Bros. Japan. The distributor has set a June 12th, 2019 release for a first season Blu-ray box set that will have it all on one Blu-ray discs priced at 10,584 yen. The release lists it as digitally remastered from the original mastering.
The property is based on the light novels of the same name by Gakuto Mikumo with artwork by Manyako, which began in 2011 and has eighteen volumes to date. A manga adaptation began in 2012 summer that’s progressing slowly with artwork be Tate.
The cast includes Yoshimasa Hosoya as Kojō Akatsuki, Risa Taneda as Yukina Himeragi, Asami Seto as Asagi Aiba, Rina Hidaka as Nagisa Akatsuki, Ikumi Hayama as Sayaka Kirisaka, Ryota Ohsaka as Motoki Yaze, Hisako Kanemoto as Natsuki Minamiya, and Yuka Iguchi as Astarte.
The TV series and previous two OVA series had Hideyo Yamamoto directing based off of scripts by Hiroyuki Yoshino with character designs by Keiichi Sano. Discotek Media has picked up the home video rights for the TV show in North America.
