The winter 2019 anime adaptation of the Grimms Notes game from Square Enix has its home video release scheduled. The twelve episode series is being released as a single Blu-ray box set with no DVD edition coming out and the folks at TBS Animation have come out with the first commercial spot to promote the show as it wraps up its broadcast run. It’s set for a June 19th, 2019 debut priced at 22,000 yen. It looks like it’s two discs being produced with details regarding the extras and other information to come later.
Seiki Sugawara is directing it based on the series composition by Hiroshi Yamaguchi. Kentaro Matsumoto is handling the character designs with Brain’s Base working on the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Ryota Ohsaka as Ekusu, Reina Ueda as Reina, Miyu Kubota as Shane, Takuya Eguchi as Tao, Takahiro Mizushima as Loki, and Sumire Uesaka as Curly.
Ayana Taketatsu is going to handle the opening theme song “Innocent Notes” for the series while i☆Ris is set to perform ending theme song “Endless Notes,” which isn’t too much of a surprise as one of the members, Miyu Kubota, is in the series itself.
Plot Concept: Set in a fairy tale world where everyone receives a book upon their birth. These books written by a mysterious storyteller, determine every detail of the owner’s life, trapping that individual into a preordained fate. This story stars a hero without a predetermined story, someone free to decide his fate. However, since he has only blank pages in his book, he can only wander to find his purpose. What follows, is a journey where our hero travels across lands to meet characters from the pages of some of the most famous fairy tales. Our hero must fight together with the various characters he meets to win back his story.
