‘Plunderer’ Anime Adaptation Detailed

2 min read
It's the year 305 of the Alcian calendar, and the world is currently entirely controlled by "numbers." Every human born is branded with a "Count." This Count can be anything; the number of kilometers walked, or the number of people who have said your food is tasty. If your Count drops to 0, you will be sent into the Abyss.

Suu Minazuki came to attention with his work Heaven’s Lost Property a few years back but he moved on to work and create the Plunderer manga as well. We got the nod in February 2018 that an anime adaptation is in the works and now the main staffing has been revealed ahead of the twelfth volume coming up next week. Hiroyuki Kanbe will be directing based on the series composition by Masashi Suzuki. Yuka Takashina, Tomoki Fukuchi, and Hiroki Fukuda are on board for the character designs with GEEKTOYS handling the animation production.

The series kicked off in 2014 as serialized in Shounen Ace with twelve volumes out as of the announcement.

Plot Concept: It’s the year 305 of the Alcian calendar, and the world is currently entirely controlled by “numbers.” Every human born is branded with a “Count.” This Count can be anything; the number of kilometers walked, or the number of people who have said your food is tasty. If your Count drops to 0, you will be sent into the Abyss. After Hina’s mother’s Count dropped to 0, her last request was for Hina to look for the Legendary Red Baron.
