When four-year-old Kun meets his new baby sister, his world is turned upside down.

With the Mirai of the Future out in Japan this past summer GKIDS brought out the film in limited form last fall as well as the recent bilingual release in February. With it recently set for an April 9th, 2019 debut on home video, the iTunes preorder side for Mirai – 細田守 has gone live as well. It’s a bilingual release with a preorder price of $14.99. The Japanese track is listed as a 5.1 mix while the English dub is in stereo.

The English cast includes Victoria Grace as Mirai, John Cho as The Father, Rebecca Hall as The Mother, and Daniel Dae Kim as The Great-Grandfather.

Hosoda wrote and directed the film with Hiroyuki Aoyama and Ayako Hata serving as the animation directors. Studio Chizu has handled the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Moka Kamishiraishi as Kun-chan, Haru Kuroki as Mirai-chan, Yoshiko Miyazaki as Grandmother, Gen Hoshino as Father, Kōji Yakusho as Grandfather, Kumiko Asou as Mother, and Mitsuo Yoshihara as Mysterious Man.

Plot Concept: When four-year-old Kun meets his new baby sister, his world is turned upside down. Named Mirai (meaning “future”), the baby quickly wins the hearts of Kun’s entire family. As his mother returns to work, and his father struggles to run the household, Kun becomes increasingly jealous of baby Mirai… until one day he storms off into the garden, where he encounters strange guests from the past and future – including his sister Mirai, as a teenager. Together, Kun and teenage Mirai go on a journey through time and space, uncovering their family’s incredible story. But why did Mirai come from the future?
