It’s not too often that you get an anime adaptation of a manga series two years after it ended, but here we are with Astra Lost in Space. After being announced in early February 2019, we now have the two leads cast as well as our first promotional video below – along with the character designs! The anime adaptation has set Masaomi Ando to direct based on the scripts by Norimitsu Kaiho. Keiko Kurosawa is working on the character designs with studio Lerche handling the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Yoshimasa Hosoya as Kanata Hoshijima
  • Inori Minase as Aries Spring

Based on the work by Sket Dance creator Kenta Shinohara, the manga ran in the Shonen Jump+ app and it saw a print release in North America in English through Viz Media. It was also a bit of an experimental series as it had a voice drama that ran alongside the manga. The series began in 2016 and wrapped up in late 2017 with five volumes total.

Plot Concept: Itʼs the first day of Planet Camp, and Aries Spring couldnʼt be more excited! She, along with eight other strangers, leave for Planet McPa for a weeklong excursion. Soon after they arrive, however, a mysterious orb appears and transports them into the depths of space, where they find an empty floating spaceship…
