Third ‘Senryu Girl’ Anime Promo Debuts

Nanako is a girl who can only communicate what she wants to say by using senryū, a poetry style similar to haiku more focused on humor.

Set for the spring 2019 season in April, the anime adaptation is in the works for the Senryu Girl property has updated again. We recently learned that it’s set for an April 5th, 2019 premiere date on MBS and TBS and now the third promotional video has come out. This one reveals the ending theme song “Ordinary Love” from Rikako Aida.

The anime will be directed by Masato Jinbo who is also handling the script supervision. Maki Hashimoto is working on the character designs with CONNECT handling the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Kana Hanazawa as Nanako Yukishiro
  • Tasuku Hatanaka as Eiji Buisujima
  • Sayuri Yahagi as Amane Katagiri
  • Rikako Aida as Koto Ōtsuki
  • Misaki Kuno as Kino Yakobe
  • Sumire Uesaka as Tao Hanakai

Based on the manga by Masakuni Igarashi, the original work began in 2016 in Weekly Shonen Magazine and has seven volumes out so far.

he opening theme song “Kotonoha no Omoi” is performed by Sonoko Inoue.

Plot Concept: Nanako is a girl who can only communicate what she wants to say by using senryū, a poetry style similar to haiku more focused on humor. Eiji is an intimidating but kind boy who is a member of the school literature club. The manga tells the story of the pair’s cheerful everyday interactions through 17 syllables.
