A thawing begins!

What They Say:
It’s a peaceful day like any other in the cafe Rainy Color. Suddenly, the silence is broken when a girl kicks down the door. Her name is Amami Yoko, and she’s the daughter of the cafe’s owner, Amami Koji. The target of her ire and the cause of all the ruckus is Koji himself. Just then, she catches sight of Rainy Color’s mascot dog, Rain, and freezes. It turns out that she’s afraid of dogs! She trips over the suitcase, topples over, and shatters a vase that Koji was keeping nearby. As punishment for breaking the vase, Yoko is forced to stand in as Rainy Color’s manager for summer vacation.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
There was obviously enjoyment of the previous episode with it taking place at a water park as it had fun with the girls in the expected ways. With this episode, it’s the end of a workday and the cafe is being closed up and Yoko has the others searching on their way home for the missing cat. That Yoko does come across the cat while finding her hanging out with the mystery girl is pretty much expected. The mystery girl that has been tormenting Yoko sees it as a way to break through the ice a bit with her, telling her how she thought it was a stray and was giving it a bit of attention, and you can see an easing of the tensions at long last, ten episodes in.

In Summary:
That it comes down to these two bonding over a cat is no surprise as the series has been playing a game of cat and mouse with them actually connecting for more than a meaningful glance here and there. I’m definitely glad the whole cat element is done and am curious to see if it can nudge anything else into the show before it presumably ends as a single-cour series. It’s cute and empty and remains a very cheap thrills kind of way of killing a few minutes between other shows when it could be a bit more.
