Aliens, ayakashi, and maids, oh my!

What They Say:
Hentai Heaven Collection 6 contains Foxy Lady, Erotic Encounter of the Alien Kind, and Raunchy Role Play.

The Review:
Audio:
The audio presentation for this series brings us the original Japanese language track in stereo as well as the new English language dub, both of which are PCM produced. The show is fairly standard material for hentai shows in that it’s dialogue/moan driven and works the full feeling without a lot in the way of directionality. Not that it needs it since it tends to be pretty focused. There’s not a lot to it outside of these moments since there’s no “action” in the traditional sense and the focus is mostly just on the two main characters and their interactions through dialogue and copious amounts of sex. These are well played though and achieves the results it wants.

Video:
Originally released in 2007 and 2008, the transfer for the three OVA series are presented in their original aspect ratio of 1.78:1 in 1080p using the AVC codec. Animated by Bootleg, the show has a pretty good look overall with its designs and animation with some good detail and some very fluid sequences. Most of it is fairly standard in style and quality though, which means it at least avoids the very low rent designs that we get with some hentai from time to time. The transfer captures the look of things well with clean lines, solid colors, and some good pop throughout. The detail where it stands out is pretty good, especially in some of the clothing choices from time to time, and seeing it in high definition definitely gives it a nice boost in terms of color quality and vibrancy.

Packaging:
The packaging for this release comes in a standard sized Blu-ray case where the front cover goes for a nice breakout of the three shows with the layout so you get a good sense of them. It’s one that places them next to each other with just enough to show off the designs. I like the character designs so they’re appealing here, though the font for the collection name doesn’t do much for me. Each is listed with their individual titles on the front cover as well, which is really nice. The back cover does a three-way split where we get a smaller version of the usual covers. The logos are along the top and we get a decent little summary of the premise, the extras, and even good shots from the show. Production credits are easy to read and the technical grid along the bottom breaks out the disc as a whole with how it’s put together. No show related inserts are included nor is there a reversible cover.

Menu:
The menu design for this release works pretty nicely with how it has to handle three distinct properties with it. The main menu that we get is similar to the idea of the cover where we get the three properties side by side but using the full unzoomed and uncensored imagery. We get to select which show we want and within that submenu it has the fuller image there and the standard navigation and setup for the shows as well as the extras. It’s done with good colors and an eye for design that works as the artwork and everything complement each other well. The layout does allow for moving to the other OVA easily as well which is a big plus. I definitely like it since it lets us have more artwork and each show get a distinctive menu and section of it.

Extras:
The alien episode has a bonus episode, which is a 2 ½ minute extra sex scene with weaker animation but lets you get a little bit more.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
One of the best things about hentai in the last few years is the growing accessibility of it for fans that gets us past the usual hardcore/violent material that had dominated for so long. Getting to see so much more romantic material, comedy material, relationship material, in the manga side of it has certainly reminded that there’s a lot more to what’s out there. The anime side doesn’t produce this kind of show as often as one would like, and getting them brought over is even harder, but having been a fan of hentai since the ’80s, well, getting some fun material that doesn’t involve evil men dominating their partners is welcome. I’ve no problem with that kind of material – we’ve reviewed a metric ton of it over the years – but this kind is what I find more appealing.

Foxy Lady (KoiMaguwai):
There’s always something fun about foxy girls and this story gives us one with a bit of a historical bent as we’re introduced to Ginko, an ayakashi. She’s taken more full form here in order to deal with a young man that has entered the red light district as she’s got the hots for him in a big way because they have a past that can’t be fully realized. What she can do, however, is have one night with him as the fox spirit she is but without the threat that she might be otherwise. It’s a pretty straightforward scene overall with some nice trappings to it but the appeal is in Ginko as a fox girl. The episode lets the two of them really enjoy each other repeatedly and there’s even some tender moments to it that really works better than it should. What I particularly liked as a nice little nod was that the tail really is like pulling hair for Ginko and when Yuujiro realizes it, he engages it to full effect in order to pleasure her even more, which she responds to in a huge way.

Erotic Encounter of the Alien Kind (Mou Hasamazu ni wa Irarenai):
This episode was a good of silliness that worked because the comedy was a great way to ease into it all. It focuses on Amano, a young woman who is making a wish to the stars for a better day to come and bigger boobs at that. What happens is that a small star falls on her, kills her, and then rebuilds her with more ample proportions much to her delight. Haru, it turns out, is an alien who fell out of his ship and did his best to fix her but took it a bit too far as she’s also no smarter and more athletic. She’s also incredibly sensitive since her body is all new and that combined with Haru being intrigued by her responses while he inhabits her body toward a fellow classmate, well, it doesn’t take long for it to encourage her to get down to it with the one boy who was always nice to her even though she felt terrible about how she looked. It’s wrapped up in a lot of strong physicality and reactions on her part and that clicks well as there’s a kind of enthusiasm to it – though that may just be the alien bleeding over into how it’s controlling her.

Raunchy Role Play (Ikoku na Retoro):
Maids are a staple of a lot of hentai, just like nurses, and both of these subgenres can get pretty depraved. We don’t really go in that direction here though as we get a young woman, a master of a house, who sees a way to really get some playtime with her favored butler. That has her dressing up as a maid, something she doesn’t care for to begin with in the household, and then works him up and down since he can’t quite refuse the person in charge. It’s a nice little twist to events with her taking control while wearing the outfit since it’s often the maids being abused and it leads to some decent if a little vanilla sex scene between the two of them. But it does handle the outfits well and it lets the whole maids and butler aspect get explored a bit, something that you don’t often get together in a scene.

In Summary:
The mix of stories here are pretty fun and each offers up enough to like with them that you can roll with what’s presented even if it’s not exaclt your cup of tea. Nothing felt really disturbing in a way that you’d be reviled by it, which is always a plus since you never know with an anthology style show. I enjoyed the alien one the most simply because it employed more story and more humor but I also really enjoyed the whole fox tail aspect in a way that really delighted. Even the maid/butler aspect had its moments, though I think that episode was the weakest one for me. It’s a solid release overall and one of the best ways to try and bring out hentai right now in physical media form.
