What They Say
With a third of the planet succumbing to nothingness, Kyouma, Mira and Ellie have chased the Syndicate all the way to India. Their efforts to save the world lead to a run-in with Hans – a local detective searching for his missing sister – and to the doorstep of an anti-Coil cult known as Organ. As the world’s only dual-ring-Coil android, Mira faces the greatest danger from infiltrating the group, but what she discovers might change her forever…

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
When Kyouma and crew finally straighten things out with Hans Cawell, more information is revealed. Hans’ sister, Sasha, was investigating an agriculture issue and since Hans wasn’t available, he told Sasha to reach out to Chandra. That’s the all of the story that Hans knows, but with Chandra now dead, Sasha has become the suspect and is also missing. Kyouma’s crew decides to help out.

Meanwhile, the Syndicate is on the move and have gathered Collectors with the goal to have half kill the other half. They have a time limit of thirty minutes left to kill each other and advance to the next stage. At first, everyone is resistant to the idea, but with too many things left unsettled between the Collectors, it turns into a bloodbath before long.

Kyouma’s crew search leads to Organ’s compound and lands. No coils are allowed, so Mira has to disguise herself. Everyone gets in one way or another. The first rule in Organ is to listen to a lecture by Guru Lada. Guru Lada reveals he knows a lot about the nothingness and that the water that Sasha was investigated stems from the compound that has nothingness. Guru Lada states he has the power to bring back things from the nothingness.

Kyouma and Mira are split up, but Mira and another women are separated from the other group of ladies stating they would receive special counseling. The counseling turns out to be an introduction into Guru Lada’s personal harem with an aphrodisiac controlling the ladies to do his bidding. In order to not reveal she has a coil, she goes along with Guru Lada. That is until he instructs the ladies to take her clothes off.

When Guru Lada insults Mira’s father, a new emotion appears – anger. She escapes, but Guru Lada feels Yurizaki, Mira’s father, is chasing him and still ruining his lift with Mira’s appearance. Hans and Ellie pick up Sasha’s tracks that lead them to an abandoned pumping station. The truth is revealed that Guru Lada has been contaminating the water source. Kyouma sets up a variety of distractions and the goal is to meet up with Mira, Hans, and Ellie at the pumping station.

Hans and Ellie go inside the pumping station and discover scientist, Lebron Carlsen. As he reveals that Guru Lada was a physicist like him working on a theory proved incorrectly by Mira’s creator, Yurizaki. This is why Guru Lada has so much hatred for Mira and is doing anything he can to capture. When he tries, Mira finds she is more comfortable with herself than ever before. She defeats Guru Lada, because while he states he detests coils, he is actually using illegal coils himself. Mira temporarily loses herself, but Kyouma shows up and stops her before it’s too late. When they finally meet up with the others, they find Sasha at the pumping station, but Lebron Carlsen is not what everyone expects him to be.

In Summary:
I am really enjoying this arc. To me, it’s a lot better than the first major part of the series. While mystery continues to abound, the relationship between Kyouma and Mira has dramatically improved and with the addition of Ellie, there’s a nice balance on the team. I also enjoy the constant introduction of diverse characters and locations from around the world. It truly gives off the feeling of a grand adventure.

It was a bit surprising in this issue that with a teen rating there was actually some nudity. It was of women’s breasts and their faces were drawn like many of the women in hentai. It made sense since given the situation as they were under the effects of an aphrodisiac, but it felt a little out of place. This is the thirteenth volume and this type of theme had not ever been utilized. It did illicit certain feelings, which was probably the goal, but perhaps an older teen rating should have been instituted.
