Everything old is new again and Netflix knows Nostalgia can drive interest while also capturing new fans. The latest issue of Monthly Shonen Sunday magazine in Japan is revealing that the manga series Spriggan is getting a new anime adaptation for Netflix with plans for a worldwide debut. David Production is handling the animation production which was all that was revealed about it.

The manga comes from creators Hiroshi Takashige and Ryouji Minagawa which began in 1989 and ran for eleven volumes before finishing up in 1998. Three volumes were released by Viz Media. An anime feature film was produced in 1998 as well which ADV Films licensed and released.

Plot Concept: Many years ago, an ancient civilization ruled Earth. They had very advanced technology but were destroyed in the end due to the misuse of their creations. These people left messages for later generations in the form of indestructible message plates written in an ancient language.

Several armed organizations began to secretly search for these artifacts to use them for their own good and against their enemies. The ARCAM Corporation is trying to stop these forces from destroying themselves with these “advanced” machines. The main character of the story, Yu Ominae, is one of the elite agents that work for ARCAM under the name of Spriggans.
