It’s definitely a great time to be a City Hunter fan as we have a new feature film and the previous reveal that the TV series is getting a new treatment on Blu-ray. Aniplex Japan scheduled the first season set with episodes one through fifty-one for a January 30th, 2019 release and while it’s late, it’s timed well to entice people with a new promo due to the movie so as to get them to drop some big coin on a favorite property. Priced at 50,000 yen, it looks to be a pretty strong production from the source materials. The seven-disc set will include a new cover from Tsukasa Hojo and a booklet while on-disc extras include the clean opening and closing sequences.

Property concept: Ryo Saeba is a “sweeper” in the city of Tokyo. His works as a trouble shooter, cleaning the streets of vermin, and helping out desperate people. Sometimes he’s a bodyguard, sometimes he’s an assassin, whatever Ryo does he does it well. In fact his only flaw is his hormones – he loves the ladies and sometimes turns into an idiot when he’s near them. Thankfully he’s got people like his partner Kaori Makimura to keep him in check.
