The Psycho-Pass series is in the midst of having a new three-part theatrical series being released and we saw TOHO bringing out the original seasons in a new “Smart Edition” release. The two seasons are getting separate releases with the first arriving on April 17th, 2019 priced at 19,800 yen while the second set is landing on July 17th, 2019 for 16,800 yen. There’s a lot of activity on this property lately and the response has been solid enough to all of it that a third season is going into production according to the official site.

The plan is for Naoyoshi Shiotani to direct again with Akira Amano coming back as the character designer, all with Production I.G. on board for the animation.

The announced cast so far includes Yuuki Kaji as Arata Shindo and Yuichi Nakamura as Kei Mikhail Ignatov which makes up the first key visual released for it below as well.

Plot concept: In the future, even just thinking about a crime is enough to make you guilty – and justice is dispensed from the barrel of a gun. Detectives work in teams made up of Enforcers and Inspectors. Enforcers take out the bad guys, and Inspectors make sure their partners don’t cross the fine line between good and evil. The great equalizer in the war against thugs is the Dominator, a futuristic weapon that can read minds and assess the probability that a citizen will turn criminal. There are no trials. Only Enforcers, Inspectors, and the Dominator. Commit a crime in your mind – and the Dominator will make sure you pay the ultimate price.
